Borrowed Lyrics?
Bible scholars say
Philippians 2:6-11
,
Colossians 1:15-20
; and
1 Timothy 3:16
are examples of Scriptures that borrow lyrics from then well known songs [not all sacred] to convey spiritual ideas. The other day I heard a modern example of this. Not from the French-Canadian actor / singer / songwriter Eric Violette [who actually doesn't sing or play in the catchy commercials for Free Credit Reports; those are written and sung by the marketing jingle genius Dave Mulhefeld], but from Christian funny man Tim Hawkins. Enjoy!!!
Just the other day some dude asked me / Where you gonna spend eternity? / F - R - E - E that spells free / Salvation for you and me /Says there in John 3:16 /In your King James or your NIV
