The New York Post drew accusations of racism for printing this political cartoon that some have said compares President Barack Obama to a mad chimpanzee. The cartoon, which appeared in the Wednesday February 18, 2009 edition of the newspaper, was based on an actual incident involving a chimpanzee that severely mauled a woman and then was shot by police in Connecticut on Monday. According to Darwin we all came from chimps, black and white, so I don't feel offended. Political cartoons have always been on the edge so I just roll my eyes and move on.
ReplyDeleteThe Obama administration didn't write the stimulus bill. In fact, it's a long way from what Obama originally proposed. Many economists point out that as a result of all the compromise in the House and Senate the bill adds significantly to the deficit, without actually providing enough of a stimulus to make much difference. The bill is so bad, some say, it's as if it were written by monkeys, and this cartoon nails it.
